Saturday both teams will race in the regional meet to determine whether or not they will make it to state. There is no doubt in my mind that both teams will run well enough to qualify for the state meet. For those parents that are interested, we will be meeting Saturday morning at the school 10-15 minutes before the bus is scheduled to depart (check with your child after practice tomorrow for bus departure times) to decorate our cars (Penny Davis and I will have glass pens available) and form a procession behind the bus to show our support for both teams. I encourage you to make every effort to attend Saturday's meet to show your support for our runners and coaches.

Run at Rock
Tuesday’s fifth-annual Run at the Rock at Woodland was a featured race around the state. With 11 state-ranked teams attending, the 3.1-mile race featured some of the best teams in North Georgia. Read entire article>>

Meet Location: Bleckley Co. Elementary in Cochran, GA
Departing: 3:25 p.m. on Friday the 16th
Arival Home: Around 4:00 PM Saturday
Hotel: Budget Inn in Hawkinsville, GA 478-783-2002
Fee: $35 per runner to cover the cost of the hotel room and dinner on Friday night.
Make checks payable to Woodland HS Cross Country.
Directions to the meet: Take I-75 to Macon. At Macon take I-16 East towards Savannah. Travel on I-16 until you reach Exit 12 (Sgoda Rd) and turn right onto Sgoda Rd. Travel on Sgoda Rd. until you intersect Hwy 23 and turn left onto Hwy 23 South. Stay on Hwy 23 until you come to the 23/87 ByPass. Take the By Pass. Travel on the By Pass until you intersect Hwy. 26 and take a left. Travel on Hwy 26 for 1/4 of a mile and you will see Beleckley Elem. School on your right.

Coaches Marvel and Forbes need the participation of each member of the cross country team this weekend for the biggest fundraiser of the season.
Octoberfest will be held at Pettit Creek Farms from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The girl's team will collect donations at the gate and the boy's team will help park cars. Get directions >>

Volunteers Needed for Run at the Rock / Tuesday, Oct. 13
Coaches Marvel and Forbes thank you for your help with the Bartow Country Championships last week! Coach Marvel said that the meet went smoothly because of the numerous parents and runners that helped out -- you guys are marvelous!
The coaches need your help with next week's Run at the Rock. The meet will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at WHS. There are 22-25 teams coming and we will need to be well organized which, with your help, won't be a problem!
Please contact Coach Marvel via email or phone/text (770-655-2655) if you are able to volunteer for one of the following positions:
1. Two timers (experience required)
2. Two place card givers (no experience required)
3. One Placer in the finish chute (can’t be shy because you are placing the close finishes) Lloyd Taylor
4. Three Catchers in the finish chute (sweat and vomit is most likely found here)
5. Three gate keepers (no experience required)
6. Two people at packet pick up and scoring table (experience required for scoring and will need to be ready at 3:15 for packet pick up)
7. Four for parking duty (Clay Willis will be coordinating the parking)
8. Two split timers (one mile and two mile)
9. Concession help need to contact Penny Davis or Beth Lowery
